Beauty tips on how to clear pores on face

When the dry or dead skin cells, every day dirt and debris block oil from flowing freely through your skin pores, pimples and blackheads can develop on your nose, chin and face. Sometimes the pores can also get clogged, when the skin is inflamed because of excessive white blood cells.

How To Clear Clogged Pores

It’s necessary to clear clogged pores often to prevent acne, pimples and blackheads. The best way to keep your skin pores clogged-free is to follow a good daily skin care routine, including exfoliating your skin regularly to remove dead or dry skin cells, oil, dirt and debris from the clogged pores.
Steaming your face is another option to open-up and clean your pores by removing impurities trapped inside. Some people use facial masks for this purpose.

Try one of the following home remedies for getting rid of clogged pores and enjoy soft, supple, smoother and younger-looking skin.

How To Clean Pores With Steam

Steaming your face is the most effective and inexpensive home remedy to clean clogged pores. Steaming helps opening-up of the facial pores and removing all the impurities trapped inside them.

Follow the steps given here under:

  • (i) Remove all of your make-up with the help of makeup remover or use pads to wipe away the makeup gently. Take care that all the traces of eye make-up and concealer, etc.  are also removed.
  • (ii) Splatter your face with lukewarm water. Do not use hot water, as this can burn your face and dry it out. Take care to splash your face with lukewarm water several times to wash off residues from your makeup remover.
  • (iii) Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. In case your skin is dry, you are not required to use a cleanser. If you prefer to use cleanser, ensure that it is mild, non-abrasive and not containing any chemicals that can otherwise dry out your face. Use lukewarm or warm water to keep your pores open.
  • (iv) Pat your face dry with a soft towel. Never try to rub or scrub it. The skin on your face is thinner and delicate than the skin on rest of your body. You need to nurse it gently.
  • (v) Fill a pot with water, cover it with a lid and heat it on a stove. Keep the heat to medium high and let it heat. When the water is hot enough to start producing steam, remove the pot from heat.
  • (vi) If you like, add green tea, peppermint tea, chamomile tea, or some other herb or extract to nurse your face. For acne-prone skin, add a few drops of tea tree oil to the water to treat your acne.
  • (vii) Fold a large bath towel and set the pot on your bathroom counter. Place a towel on your head and lean over the steaming water.  Make a tent of the towel over your head, shoulders and the pot to ensure that the steam is directed to your face. Allow the steam to soak into your facial pores for 10 minutes.
  • (viii) Splash your face with cool water to wash away the impurities that have surfaced from your pores. The cool water will also help closing your pores and tighten your skin.
  • (ix) Pat dry your face and apply a good quality toner to balance your skin’s ph. Apply a gentle moisturizer to prevent your face from drying out.
  • (x) Steam your face twice a week to keep your skin clogged free and looking smooth, even toned and rejuvenated.

  • (b) Let the brewed tea cool down, and then mix in 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of honey thoroughly.

This is an ancient time exfoliation technique, which has gained popularity these days. Buy a facial scrubbing brush made with soft bristles from natural fibers. Never use body brushes on your face, as they are hard and too harsh for your delicate facial skin. Specifically buy a soft brush that is made especially to be used for fragile facial skin and use the following technique:

  • (a) First remove all your make-up with a makeup remover, rinse your face, and pat it dry with a soft towel, so that your face is clean and dry. To get the results, your face and brush both should be completely dry. This technique will not work if either of them is wet or damp.
  • (ii) Rub gently the dry facial brush over your face moving in small circles. Focus on the areas where your skin is the driest.
  • (iii) As the skin around your eyes is very fragile and thin, so be careful in these areas.
  • (iv) When you are done, rinse your face with cool water, pat it dry and apply a good quality moisturizer.

Use Facial Masks For Getting Rid Of Clogged Pores

  • (i) Clay Mask: As the clay masks dry out on your face, they pull out the materials that are clogging your pores. You can procure them at your nearby drug or beauty stores. If you want to make your own, here is a very effective home recipe:
  • (a) Buy bentonite clay from your health or beauty store. Take 1 tablespoon of this clay and mix it thoroughly with 1 tablespoon of oatmeal and 1 tablespoon of water.
  • (b) Clean your face and apply this homemade clay mask over your face, concentrating on the areas where your pores are clogged.
  • (c) Allow the mask to dry out on your face. As it dries out, it will start tightening up and that indicates the clay is working to pull out the substances from your pores.
  • (d) Rinse your face to remove the clay mask gently, and then pat your face dry. Apply a good quality moisturizer of your choice.
  • (ii) Alpha Hydroxy Or Beta Hydroxy Acid Mask: These masks are available in Beauty or Drug Stores. They are widely known as chemical exfoliants. While using them, you don’t need to scrub your skin. Follow the under given steps
  • (a) Clean your face, apply the mask and let it sit on your face for the time mentioned on the package. Don’t leave it longer than that, as otherwise it will irritate your skin.
