Avocados are known as a super food because of all the vitamins, healthy fats and other nutrients that they contain and you have also probably heard of some of the beauty hacks that use avocado as an ingredient in it too.
The vitamins, minerals and fats that avocados contain actually make them suitable for hundreds and hundreds of different beauty treatments, especially for the skin and hair.
So, if you have a spare avocado in the refrigerator, here are just ten of the amazing beauty hacks that you could use it for.
1. Eye serum for brighter under eye area

You can make a super-nourishing body scrub using avocado and a few other ingredients. Mix the pulp of half an avocado with a tablespoon of avocado oil (or simply use olive oil), a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of honey.

Probably one of the best known uses of avocado is in hair masks. Avocado is great for treating dry, damaged hair and it will bring the bounce and shine to your hair in no time at all. All you need to do is to mash up one avocado and add a teaspoon of olive oil or coconut oil to the mixture.
Massage it into your hair and leave it to sit for half an hour before you wash it out again. If you have dandruff, try adding some lemon juice to the mixture and that will help fight the dandruff too.
The oils in avocado are very close in composition to the natural oils in your skin and they also contain anti-inflammatory ingredients that will help to reduce any redness and swelling in the skin.
Simply apply mashed avocado to your face and leave it on for about ten minutes and it will nourish the skin and reduce any inflammation.
You don’t even have to waste the tasty flesh of the avocado for this great beauty hack. Just swipe some cotton wool over some freshly cut avocado and the oil from the fruit will make a skin-nourishing and very effective makeup remover. It works great even with hard to remove eye makeup.
Here is another wonderful body scrub that you can create using avocado. Create a mixture of one mashed avocado, 2 tablespoons of avocado oil, three tablespoons of honey and 5 tablespoons of ground oatmeal.
Gently massage this avocado-oatmeal scrub into damp skin while in the shower and it will gently exfoliate your skin, while also providing moisture and nourishment.
Avocado is also great or the lips and you can make your own homemade lip scrub with this simple recipe. Mix up some avocado flesh with sugar and olive oil and add a few drops of peppermint essential oil.
Rub the mixture gently into your lips and it will exfoliate the skin, moisturize your lips and the peppermint oil will help improve the blood supply to your lips and plump them up a bit.
8. Soothe dry and cracked hands using avocado flesh
This is a great tip for the winter when your hands can get dry and cracked. Mash up a mixture of half an avocado and one banana and smooth the mixture onto your hands.
Leave the mixture to soak into your skin for ten minutes and it will moisturize your dry hands and help the cracks to heal. Avocados have great moisturizing power, so it can be used to treat troublesome dry skin anywhere on the body.
9. Strengthen nails with avocado oil
Avocado contain proteins and fats that will nourish and strengthen nails. Massage your nails and your cuticles with avocado oil and it will bring back the strength to brittle nails and soften the cuticles.
10. Avocado body lotion for gorgeous skin
You can even take avocado in the shower with you. Mash up one ripe avocado with a tablespoon of avocado oil and you will have an amazing moisturising body lotion. Apply it to your skin and pay special attention to those areas that are more prone to dry skin, like your heels and your elbows.
Leave it in for about five minutes and then wash off.
